Spyrus Commits Secure Support for Windows To Go for Next Decade

SPYRUS Solution Only US Secure USB Device Manufacturer Certified by Microsoft

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Aug. 20, 2019 — SPYRUS Solutions, Inc (“SPYRUS”) announced today it will continue to support Windows To Go drives through 2029 to ensure continuity for Microsoft customers. Windows To Go is a feature in Windows 8 Enterprise, Windows 8.1 Enterprise, Windows 10 Education, Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Pro that allows them to boot and run a fully manageable Windows environment from USB storage devices certified by Microsoft as compatible and secure. Microsoft recently announced their support for Windows To Go development will be discontinued. Microsoft is removing Windows To Go creator tools from the operating system including pwcreator.exe.

SPYRUS is the only US-based manufacturer of secure USB devices that has been certified by Microsoft to continue to provide support for Windows To Go. All six of the SPYRUS Microsoft certified FIPS 140-2 Level 3 Windows To Go live drives do not use pwcreator.exe and will be unaffected by this change, and will work as they currently do in terms of receiving updates. LTSB/LTSC versions of Windows 10 will continue to support Windows To Go until 2029 and will also be seamlessly supported by the SPYRUS Window To Go drives and creator tools. SPYRUS worked diligently to provide custom tools that seamlessly integrated into the Windows environment to give customers the security they demand while ensuring the custom tools did not conflict with standard Windows 10 operations.

“Microsoft customers that rely on Windows To Go can be assured SPYRUS products will support their current workflow without hiccups in updates or oversights in security for the next ten years,” said Grant Evans, chairman and chief executive officer, SPYRUS Solutions. “SPYRUS is committed to providing the highest quality hardware and software security solutions, manufactured in the US, to protect data and applications in motion, at rest, and in process.”

SPYRUS developed its own creator tools to ensure complete protection for customers using Windows To Go live drives. In addition, these creator tools also support simultaneous provisioning (with powered hubs) for up to 15 Windows To Go drives.
