How it Worked

The suite combined the strengths of both hardware and software encryption:

• SecureDoc: Provided robust full-disk encryption, including pre-boot authentication for complete hard drive protection.
• Spyrus Hardware: Offered secure authentication and private key storage using Rosetta security devices or the Hydra Privacy Card® Series II for high-assurance portable encryption.

Uncompromising Security

• Unmatched protection against data compromise from intruders, lost laptops, or stolen drives.
• Support for Suite B cryptography, a set of NSA-approved algorithms for both classified and unclassified U.S. Government data. This includes Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), AES, and SHA-2 hash functions.
• Select products (Hydra PC & Rosetta) exceeded Suite B standards with support for ECC P-521 keys and SHA-512.

Scalability

The Talisman/DS suite offered solutions ranging from individual configurations to global enterprise deployments, including those of U.S. Government agencies handling classified information.

Suite Components

• Hydra Privacy Card® (Hydra PC™) Series II: Portable USB authentication device with hardware-based encryption and onboard microSD storage. Supports a third authentication factor for limiting use to specific PCs, making it ideal for high-security environments.
• Rosetta Smart Card and USB Series II: Cost-effective two-factor authentication, even in pre-boot environments, for systems leveraging SecureDoc encryption.
• WinMagic SecureDoc Full Disk Encryption: Ensured comprehensive hard drive security via entire disk encryption (including pre-boot authentication). Protects temporary and swap files, with transparent operation for end-users. Private keys stored securely on Spyrus hardware.
