Features and Specifications
- Compatibility: Worked with most standard smart cards.
- Form Factor: Compact and portable, easily clipped onto a lanyard and doubled as an ID badge holder.
- Operating Modes:
- Connected Mode: The PAR 2 could be connected to a host PC via USB cable or an optional powered docking station (with either serial or USB connection). Supported standard smart card logon, digital signature, and encryption applications.
- Standalone Mode: The PAR 2 featured a replaceable battery and could operate independently with a built-in clock, calculator, keypad, and two-line LCD display.
- Secure PIN Entry: PIN entry via the keypad safeguarded sensitive information stored on the smart card.
- Programmable Second Processor: The PAR 2 included a unique, fully programmable second processor for interactive applications. This allowed loading custom applications or SPYRUS applications using an available software development kit.

The following custom applications could be loaded onto the PAR 2:
- CAC DataViewer: For logging onto a Common Access Card and viewing stored data.
- Electronic Identity Card DataViewer: For viewing data on electronic ID cards and using online authentication.
- WebWallet: Securely stored usernames and passwords, with automatic entry into designated websites.
- Network Password Generator: Generated a new login password with each use for network security.
- Cash Card Viewer: Displayed balance and transaction data on prepaid cash cards.
- Electronic Voting Booth: Facilitated secure voting using a preprogrammed smart card.
